Hey! It's our first non-book club ZOOM event!  We are proud to host house-fave TORI TELFER with her latest book, in conversation with special guest Lyz Lenz.  

For con women, it’s all fun and games until someone gets hurt—but as a con-loving public, most of us stop at the “fun and games” part. Why do we enjoy these rollicking tales so much, and forget the human cost so easily? Tori Telfer and Lyz Lenz will dive into the murky world of swindlers-turned-celebrities, and try to put the “anti” back in “antiheroine.”

Tori Telfer is the author of Lady Killers: Deadly Women Throughout History and Confident Women: Swindlers, Grifters, and Shapeshifters of the Feminine Persuasion. She has hosted true crime podcasts for CBS and Investigation Discovery, and is the host of her own podcast Criminal Broads. She lives in New York City with her husband and son.

Lyz’s writing has appeared in the Huffington Post, The Washington Post, the Columbia Journalism Review, The New York Times, Pacific Standard, and others. Her book God Land was published in 2019, through Indiana University Press. Her second book Belabored, was published in 2020 by Bold Type Books. Lyz’s essay “All the Angry Women” was also included in the anthology Not that Bad edited by Roxane Gay. Lyz received her MFA in creative writing from Lesley University. She lives in Iowa with her two kids, cat, and two dogs.
