Victorian Literary Parlour book club with Mr. Walter Nelson

7:00 p.m.

The Victorian Literary Parlour explores brilliant but unjustly neglected authors and stories from this most prolific period of English literature. Our guide is Mr. Walter Nelson, authority on the period and sharp dresser.

Many of our tropes for weird or scary stories come straight out of Victorian literature. They did them first; they did them best. So, we’re heading to the tail end of the era for the hugely influential Algernon Blackwood. Ancient Sorceries and Other Weird Stories collects some of his uncanniest work. It should get us all in the right mood for our favorite of the four seasons: Halloween.

All book clubs require a ticket, and include the book, snacks/bevs, and a dedicated moderator – to keep the discussion on track! All clubs meet at The Last Bookstore.

You can get your ticket (we’ll ship the book to you!) at this link – OR just come in to the store and look for our book club display (near the book tunnel).

If you choose the on-line option (the one with shipping), please send a mailing addy to larkin.lastbookstore@gmail.com
