The Last Bookstore is pleased to present MFA fellows in fiction and poetry from the University of California, Irvine, as part of the MFA Program’s annual Reading Series. The MFA Reading Series is an important part of UC Irvine’s MFA Program In Writing – an opportunity for the writers to share their work with the larger community. The writers who study at UC Irvine’s small program, selected from hundreds of applicants each year, are chosen for their strong voices and commitment to developing their work in an intensive, intimate creative space.
The readers at this event are Miles Parnegg, Hannah Dow, Ross Green, and Joel Wood.
Miles Parnegg is a first year fiction student from New Mexico.
Hannah Dow, a first year poet, received her PhD from the University of Southern Mississippi’s Center for Writers. Her poems have recently appeared or are forthcoming in North American Review, Cincinnati Review, The Journal, and Ninth Letter.
Ross Green is a second year fiction student from Iowa City, Iowa, who came to the writing program after stints as a civil servant in Washington D.C. and a bartender in North Carolina.
Joel Wood is a second year poetry student from the Ozark mountains of Arkansas. His work has appeared in Buffalo NY’s PressBoardPress and other online zines.
Each writer will read a selection from their own work.
