True Crime may be one of those love-it or hate-it genres, but few others offer such consistent insight into the human condition — or such fascinating heroes and villains. Our True Crime Tuesdays book club is lead by journalist/author James T. Bartlett.
The Girl on the Velvet Swing (Simon Baatz) is a turn-of-the-century love triangle of epic proportions. A big-shot architect sexually assaults a young chorus girl, and gets away with it – until a few years later, when her husband takes bloody – and public – revenge.
HOW IT WORKS:
All book clubs require a ticket, and include the book, snacks/bevs, and a dedicated moderator – to keep the discussion on track! All clubs meet at The Last Bookstore.
You can get your ticket (we’ll ship the book to you!) at the link right here – OR just come in to the store and look for our book club display (near the book tunnel).
If you choose the on-line option (the one with shipping), please send a mailing addy to email@example.com
Originally from London, James Bartlett is a journalist and author of the Gourmet Ghosts guides to murder, suicide, and other mysteries from L.A.’s bars, hotels and restaurants.
