She Rides Shotgun – Jordan Harper in convo with Eric Beetner

7:30 p.m.

The Last Bookstore is pleased to present the launch of Jordan Harper’s breakneck debut novel She Rides Shotgun— A propulsive novel about a man, fresh out of prison, who must kidnap his daughter to keep her out of harm’s way. Jordan Harper in-conversation with Eric Beetner of the Writer Types Podcast and Noir at the Bar series.

“From its bravura prologue to its immensely satisfying ending, this first novel comes out with guns blazing and shoots the chambers dry. It’s both a dark, original take on the chase novel and a strangely touching portrait of a father-daughter relationship framed in barbed wire.” — Booklist

Let us know you’re coming.

Nate McClusky made dangerous enemies in prison, and they’ve put a bounty on his head. They’ve already murdered his ex-wife, and now his eleven-year-old daughter Polly is on their list. In a desperate move, he shows up at Polly’s school in a stolen car, tells her to hop in, and drives. Along the way, they evade the bad guys, in a series of narrow misses, spend sleepless nights in motels, fight and make up. Polly learns from her father, transforming from a little girl whose closest friend is a teddy bear into a true fighter. Nate in turn learns what it’s like to love fiercely and unconditionally–a love he’s never felt before. Can their powerful bond transcend the precarious and dangerous existence he’s carved out for them? Will they ever be able to live an honest life, free of fear?
