Exploring Greenland’s Wilderness: Readings from A Wilder Time by William Glassley

7:30 p.m.

The Last Bookstore has the pleasure to present William Glassley and his new book A Wilder Time: Notes From a Geologist at the Edge of the Greenland Ice. Come learn about the wonders, mysteries and lessons embedded in wilderness above the Arctic Circle.

Let us know you’re coming.

A Wilder Time recounts experiences Glassley and his two Danish colleagues shared over numerous expeditions while conducting scientific research in one of the world’s most extensive wilderness terrains. The book explores the emotional truths contained in wild landscapes, and the opportunities they provide to gain new perspective on our place in Nature. The lessons learned through those experiences are shown to be a chance to more deeply understand the value of wilderness, and how climate change is affecting that pristine landscape.

William E. Glassley is a geologist at the University of California, Davis, and an emeritus researcher at Aarhus University, Denmark. His research has focused on the evolution of continents and the processes that energize them. He is the author of over seventy research articles and a textbook on geothermal energy. A Wilder Time is his first book for a general audience. He has lived in Norway, Australia and Denmark, and traveled throughout the world. His current home is in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
